Sargeliai Children's Day Center Activities

The activities of the Sargeliai Children's Day Center are significant for children and youth, fostering their initiative, communication, skill development, increasing community awareness, meeting public needs, and promoting active leisure time.

Sargeliai Children's Day Center Activity Plan

Vision Ensuring children's well-being and safety to promote their positive socialization and integration into society. Providing services for the development of social and life skills. The goal is to provide daytime social care and educational services to children and their families while organizing children's engagement, social and educational activities according to their abilities and needs.

Children's Day Social Care Services:

Information provision;

Counseling;

Mediation;

Development, maintenance, and/or restoration of daily living skills (self-care, personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle skills, etc.);

Assistance with homework;

Meal organization;

Leisure activities organization;

Psychological assistance;

Other individualized social services based on children's needs.

LIST OF PROVIDED SERVICES

Information provision – Providing children and their families with information about services, free legal and social assistance in municipalities, support, and other issues. Ensuring access to necessary information from other institutions (education, vocational training, employment, etc.). Maintaining confidentiality regarding children's information.

Counseling – Analyzing problematic child situations together with the child (and family) and finding effective solutions. Familiarizing with the internal regulations, duties, and rights of the children's care department. Ensuring access to necessary consultations and information.

Mediation and representation – Assisting in resolving various issues (legal, health, household, social, personal documents, payments) and managing property-related issues in the necessary institutions.

Meal service – Providing meals and conditions for preparing food for personal needs.

Sociocultural services – Organizing leisure activities to prevent social problems, reduce social exclusion, activate the community, and provide opportunities for social interaction, participation in group social work sessions, engaging in hobbies, and assisting children with homework.

Social and pedagogical work, communication – Organizing social and pedagogical work for children according to individual plans developed by specialists working directly with the child.

Personal hygiene and care services – Providing personal hygiene services: supplying individual hygiene products, shower facilities, assistance with personal hygiene procedures. Developing and maintaining daily living skills to encourage independence in personal and social activities.

Development of work skills (engagement) – Providing opportunities for children to participate in various activities based on their interests: arts, crafts, flower care, cleaning, and environmental maintenance.

Leisure activities organization – Facilitating children's self-expression by selecting educational institutions matching their interests. Organizing cultural activities, national and traditional holiday celebrations, educational trips, visits to concerts, theaters, exhibitions, sports events, and community events.

Main Topics:

Social and hygiene skills;

Appropriate communication and conflict resolution skills;

Developing future visions;

Healthy lifestyle.

Activities promoting collaboration, information dissemination, and mutual assistance:

Formal intervision, training sessions, two meetings, and informal collaboration forms (conversations during events).

Providing assistance in solving individual (family) issues (household matters, document processing, tax payments, scheduling specialist appointments, organizing household work, etc.), mediating between individuals (families) and their environment (institutions, specialists, other individuals). Mediation and representation are carried out at the Sargeliai Center and at individuals' homes.

Support Services:

Provision of essential clothing, footwear, and other necessities;

Personal hygiene services;

Laundry services;

Information, counseling, mediation, and representation, communication, psychological assistance, and other services based on children's and parents' needs.

Daily skills development:

Hygiene: hand washing, nail and hair care;

Meal preparation, table setting, eating, dishwashing;

Active outdoor games.

Objectives:

Planning and organizing children's leisure activities;

Providing conditions for completing homework;

Developing cognitive, creativity, and social competencies;

Forming value-based and civic attitudes;

Teaching meaningful and enjoyable leisure activities.

Direct impact methods applied in providing social assistance to children and adolescents:

Enhancing learning motivation;

Forming positive attitudes.

Social and life skills development services provided:

Communication, mediation, information dissemination, financial and social support, child rights protection, engagement, healthcare, education, social housing for individuals and families.

Representation:

Solving various legal, economic, household, and health issues.

Daily living skills development and maintenance:

Housekeeping, shopping, bill payments.

Sociocultural services provided:

Events, seminars, training sessions.

Creating conditions for children to develop moral and social maturity, cultural and ethnic awareness:

Helping students form a positive and ethically grounded relationship with themselves, others, and the world.

Developing intellectual, emotional, moral, social, and cultural experience.

Integrating children into their immediate social and natural environment, helping them understand human life and its changes, the connection between people and nature, the past, present, and future.

Helping children acquire, develop, and apply information, analyze and interpret it critically, solve problems, act independently, and adopt value-based attitudes such as tolerance, respect for life, responsibility for one's own and others' well-being.

Helping children understand their rights:

Ensuring they can express opinions, be heard, and receive fair responses.

Helping children understand their importance to their families and society.

Free meals for regular visitors of the children's day center.

Encouraging an understanding of personal and community identity:

Introducing social roles, responsibilities, and norms;

Discussions about family and its values: love, respect, mutual help, shared time, commitments, traditions;

Understanding one’s role in the family;

Exploring family lineage and relationships, collecting stories about ancestors, creating a family tree, mapping origins, researching dialects and family surnames.

Familiarizing with the local cultural environment:

Traditional holidays, notable figures, historical events, and locations;

Creating narratives about national celebrations;

Learning about Lithuanian national symbols: the tricolor flag, Vytis, Vilnius’ Gediminas Castle, Trakai Castle, and the Presidential Palace;

Comparing Lithuanian customs with those of other nationalities living in Lithuania.

Promoting national traditions and values:

Understanding the past and present of Lithuania;

Encouraging a commitment to the Lithuanian language and culture;

Preserving universal human values and integrating them into daily life.

Recognizing and valuing local cultural and natural heritage:

Protecting life and the environment;

Appreciating biodiversity and respecting other cultures.

Charity initiative "Do Not Pass By."

Social care services provided:

Development and maintenance of social and daily life skills;

Leisure organization;

Counseling, information provision, sociocultural services, material support, crisis intervention, and day social care.

Emotional expression control program implemented.

Learning proper communication: understanding others' emotions, engaging in dialogue, respecting others, speaking politely, listening to different opinions, and resolving conflicts peacefully.

Organizing educational group activities, various events, trips, specialist workshops, and individual consultations to develop and strengthen life skills, self-confidence, and self-esteem, preparing children for independent living in society.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Social Security and Labor and the Education and Social Affairs Department of the Raseiniai District Municipality.
